Day One Recap

OKLAHOMA CITY – Some teams are looking to take a broom out of the closet while others will be battling to keep their hopes alive after the first day of the Hooters Championship Series at the ASA Hall of Fame Complex.

Three of the four divisions have teams leading 2-0 over their opponents and needing only one more win to capture the title at the Hooters Championship in their respective divisions.

C-Town/American Funding/Red Rock/DSSBats/Easton of Boise, Idaho and Bertie’s/B&C/Hub City Glass/Miken of Elizabethtown, Ky., split their two games on the opening day of the Hooters Championship Series. C-Town won the first game 17-5 while Bertie’s rebounded to win the second game 20-13. Game three of the best of five series is scheduled for 10 a.m. and Game 4 at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Game 5 (if necessary) will be contested at 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

In the Men’s Class C division Team Logo of Commerce, Ga., took a 2-0 lead in its series with Hara’s/Casa Group/Worth of Salem, Ore., after the first day of action. Team Logo came back in the bottom of the seventh inning to secure a 14-13 win in game one. However, Hara’s bats couldn’t keep up during the second game, losing 15-9. Team Logo will look to close out the series in game three on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. If Hara’s can pick up a win they would play in game four (if necessary) at 4 p.m. Saturday and game five (if necessary) at 7 p.m. Saturday.

The Fraley Wildcats of Lexington, Ky., are one game away from winning the Women’s Class C division at the Hooters Championship Series after beating WTS Softball Crew of Lancaster, Calif., 11-2 and 4-3. You can follow the action LIVE at www.asasoftball.com WTS Softball Crew will have to battle back to win three games in a row to win the championship. Game four (if necessary) is at 1 p.m. on Saturday while game five (if necessary) will be held at 7 p.m.

The Lady Blue Jays of San Antonio, Texas, are looking to avoid the sweep the Women’s Class D division after losing the first two games to Paver Pro Unlimited of Ft. Myers, Fla., 5-4 and 11-2.You can follow the action LIVE at www.asasoftball.com as Paver Pro looks to win the championship on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. Game 4 (if necessary) is at 11:30 a.m. Saturday and Game 5 (if necessary) is at 5:30 p.m.

The Men’s Class D National Championship teams decided seeds Friday after going through round-robin play on Friday. Teams will now play through a single-elimination bracket to determine the championship winner. White’s Lawn Care/Riverdogs of Wake Forest, N.C., captured the No. 1 seed after going undefeated in pool play. The Riverdogs will face the No. 4 seed Storm/Bosch Financial of Cedar Rapids, Iowa at 11:30 a.m. No. 2 seeded 3 Legged Monkeys of South El Monte, Calif., will play the No. 3 seed Lugo’s Heavy Hitters/Mar Designs & Construction of Mission, Texas at 1 p.m. The winners will play at 7 p.m. Saturday for the championship.
